Part 3, the liner United States leaves Newport News, Virginia, for speed trials. Flashbacks show the laying of her keel (next to the completed liner America) and her launching. Part 4, Gen. MacArthur rides in a motorcade through Lansing, Michigan, and addresses State legislature on the perils of electing a military man President and of merging parties to choose a single candidate.

Francis Townsend Dodd (b. Oct. 5, 1899, Indiana-d. 1973), Brigadier General in the U.S. Army, a West Point graduate, served in World War II, earning several military decorations, and during the Korean War.
